KIIT University Vice Chancellor nominated and elected as Vice President of Asian Association of Andrology

Prof. P. P. Mathur, VC, KIIT University was nominated and elected for a three-year term as the Vice President of the Asian Association of Andrology headquartered at Shanghai, China.  He was also invited to attend the Asian Association of Andrology Meeting in Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai to deliver a keynote address (22–24 April, 2016). He is the only Indian Scientist selected for such an honor. He was also as the Deputy Director of the Diagnosis and Treatment Guideline Writing Committee of Asian Association of Andrology.

Prof. Mathur has also been nominated as the General Secretary for the year 2016-19 of ISCA, which is the oldest association of science academicians and scientists of India.

Prestigious Asutosh Mookerjee Memorial  Award to KIIT VC

Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) has conferred the Asutosh Mookerjee Memorial Award on Prof. P. P. Mathur, Vice Chancellor, KIIT University. He received the honour at the hands of Shri Narendra Modi, Hon'ble Prime Minister of India at the inaugural session of the 103rd Indian Science Congress in Mysuru on January 3, 2016. The Award carries a gold medal. It is the most prestigious award of ISCA to honour distinguished scientists of the country. Prof. Mathur was given the award for his key role in the development of science and technology, specifically in the area of biochemistry and molecular biology. The honour is given in memory of Sir Asutosh Mookerjee, who was the first General President of ISCA and a great educationist of the country.


Dr. Sudhir Kumar Satpathy, Director, School of Public Health, KIIT University has been honored by the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) by awarding him the CUGH 2016 Velji Global Health Education Award (Faculty) for his excellent contribution in this field. Dr. Satpathy received this award at the CUGH 2016 Conference held at San Francisco, USA, 8 -11 April, 2016.

Biotechnology Faculty Appointed as Subject Expert Member of DST-FIST

Funds for Improvement of S&T Infrastructure (FIST) of Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India supports technical infrastructure development in colleges and Universities. School of Biotechnology, KIIT University has received FIST support and Dr. Avinash Sonawane, Associate Dean of School of Biotechnology has been appointed as the subject expert member of DST-FIST panel of Life Sciences for PG Colleges.



KIDS Faculty Awarded Fellowship from Pierre Fauchard Academy, USA

Dr. Rajeev Ranjan, Senior Lecturer, Department of Periodontics and Oral Implantology has been awarded fellowship from pierre Fauchard Academy, USA. The fellowship was awarded during the 29th Annual Convocation and award Ceremony in Mumbai. He was awarded the fellowship by former Vice Chancellor of Mumbai University and renowned Pediatric Surgeon, Dr. Snehalata S. Desmukh.



KIDS Faculty Delivers Invited Lecture

Dr. Rajeev Ranjan, Senior Lecture, Department of Periodontics and Oral Implantology of Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences (KIDS) was invited as a guest speaker at the 2nd annual Dental Conference of International Academy of Dental Practititioner. This two-day annual conference was held in Allahabad where more than 500 delegates participated from different parts of country. Dr. Ranjan delivered his lecture on 'Cover the uncover- Root Coverage Procedures Demystified'.

Dy. Director (R&D), KIIT Selected as Council Member of NAFEMS-ETWG

Prof. Priyam Mohanty, Deputy Director (R&D), KIIT University has been selected as Council Member of NAFEMS Education and Training Working Group (ETWG). National Agency for Finite Element Methods and Standards, NAFEMS is the only International Association for the Engineering Modelling, Analysis and Simulations Community in the World. He will be representing NAFEMS India ETWG in close cllaboration with the Global ETWG, in order to ensure thet the training needs of analysts in India are met, and are compliant with the internationally recognized standards in respective fields. He is the youngest member of the global specalized working group, ETW Group, which has 15 members.

Dr. Pritam Mohanty was invited as a panel speaker in National Cleft and Craniofacial Conference (CLEFTCON 2015). He participated in the debate session as the youngest faculty and gave a presentation on “Surgery First Approach in Orthognathic Treatment Protocol”.

KIMS Doc Elected VP of APSI

Dr. K. K. Samantary, Asso. Prof of Department of ENT, KIMS has been elected as Vice President of Phono Surgeons of India (APSI). He has been elected for three years from 2016 to 2018. Phono Surgery is a super specialty branch of ENT, which deals with voice disorders. Dr. Samantaray successfully completed his term as Honorary Secretary of the Association for three years. He is the first Odia to be the vice president of APSI. He has conducted national conference two times in Bhubaneswar successfully and workshops to treat patients with hoarseness of voice of any age.


KIDS Faculty  Bags Best Paper Award

Dr. Vinay S., Reader, Dept of Public Health Dentistry, Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences (KIDS), KIIT University bagged the Best Scientific Paper award at the scientific session of the 20th National Conference of IAPHD held recently at Manipal College of Dental Sciences. His paper was titled "Assessment of Oral Health Status and Treatment Needs and Oral Health Services Provision for the Children Residing in Various Orphanages of Bhubaneswar city, Odisha."

In recognition to his outstanding contribution in field of Dentistry as specialist Periodontist, Dr. Rajeev Ranjan, Senior Lecturer, Department of Periodontics and Oral Implantology has been nominated for prestigious ‘Famdent Excellence Award for Best Periodontist of the Year 2015’. This award is India’s most coveted Dentistry award and is  hailed as ‘the Indian Dental Oscars’. This Dentistry award recognizes the highest standards of excellence in the Dental profession, honouring individuals in respective fields for their outstanding achievements.

KIIT Faculty Awarded

United Writer Association at Chennai has awarded Prof. (Dr.) S. M. Ali, Assoc. Dean (T&P), School of Electrical Engineering, KIIT University for his outstanding contribution in the field of development of Green Energy on June 16, 2014. The award was presented by Shri R. Gandhi, Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India in the presence of Shri Rakesh Sharma, Managing Director, Laxmi Vilash Bank Karur at Hotel Savera, Chennai. Prof. Ali is also the Vice President of Solar Energy Society of India.
KIIT Professor Awarded at Cambridge University

Dr. Ipseeta Satpathy, D.Litt, Professor SoM, KIIT University was awarded the prestigious Oxford Journal Distinguished Research Professor Award 2014, at Cambridge University, London on 1st July 2014. Dr Satpathy received the award from Prof. (Dr) Kenneth Garren of U.S.A, who was the keynote speaker. The selection committee was very impressed with the depth, quality & variety of Dr. Satpathy’s research & publication and was happy to inform that she has been able to consistently produce quality research for the international academic audience.

Dr. Sanghamitra Patnaik Represents India at SUSI 2013, USA

Dr. (Ms.) Sanghamitra Patnaik, Associate Professor, School of Law, was selected by US Department of State to participate in the Study of the United States Institute (SUSI) for Scholars on American Politics and Political Thought, 2013. SUSI is one of the prestigious exchange programs organized and sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. She was  the only professor from India  selected by US State Department to represent India in this Program (American Politics and Political Thought) among 16 participants  from across the world. The institute was hosted by the University of Massachusetts, Amherst from June 13 to July 26, 2013.


KIIT Faculty presents paper at IUAES Congress, UK

Dr Iswar Chandra Naik, Assistant Professor, KIIT University has  presented  two research papers at the International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences (IUAES) Congress at Manchester, United Kingdom. The topics of research papers being 'The Dombo : An Ethnographic Study of a Dalit Community in South Odisha' and 'Development, Displacement and Indigenous People's Movements in India: A Study of Odisha'.


KIIT Faculty attends SAP Academic Conference, Asia Pacific Japan 2012

Prof. Nihar Ranjan Beura, Faculty (COE-SAP Lead), School of Management  represented KIIT at SAP Academic Conference, Asia Pacific Japan 2012 held in Hong Kong during 3-7July 2012.

Nearly two hundred professors from various SAP University Alliance member institutes from over 21 countries participated in the week-long event.

Besides KIIT, several reputed Indian Institutes like IIM, SIT, IMI, BITM, SIM participated in the conference. Participants took the opportunity to learn and interact with professors from other member schools and gain greater insights on SAP and the offerings by SAP University Alliances. 

Prof. Nihar also attended the SAP Cloud based solution for SMEs called SAP Business By Design certification course and became ninth in the region and third in India to achieve SAP Business By Design certification. He is the only SAP faculty amongst all sixty two member Institutes of SAP with rich ERP-SAP implementation experience in various Industries across the Globe.

Prof. N. K. Chakrabarti, Director, KIIT Law School participated in the  Asia-Pacific Law Deans’ Forum 2012 at Bangkok, Thailand

 Prof. N. K. Chakrabarti, Director, School of Law, KIIT University has participated in the Asia-Pacific Law Deans’ Forum 2012 organised by Chulalongkorn University, Law School, Bangkok, Thailand in collaboration with International Association of Law Schools (IALS) during 1-2 March 2012. The meeting was participated by the Deans/Directors from Thailand, Bangladesh, China, India,  Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, South Korea and Vietnam. As the world becomes more globalized and relationship among the international community more integrated, the forum is intended to serve as a venue to brainstorm ideas to tackle challenges that the legal education in countries across the Asia-Pacific region are now facing.

Dr.Sachi Nandan Mohanty, Assistant Professor, School of Computer Engineering, KIIT University awarded FIRST PRIZE as a "BEST THESIS AWARD" on 51st Computer Society of India (CSI-India),  CSI Annual convention at Coimbatore, 23-25 Jan 2017. The Title of the thesis is “Influence of Cognition and Emotion on decision-making under Uncertainty”. He did his Ph.D.  From Indian Institute of Technology KHARAGPUR (2009-2013) with MHRD fellowship.

KIIT Faculty Invited as Visiting Professor
to Lynchburg College, USA

Dr. Ipseeta Satpathy, D.Litt, Associate Professor - OB & HRM, School of Management, KIIT University was invited by Lynchburg College Virginia, USA as a visiting Professor from 28th September 2012 to 10th October, 2012. During her visit Dr. Satpathy took a series of classes for the MBA students, addressed the Board of Directors of the Lynchburg College and had lot of interaction with the students' on and off the class.

The faculty, students' and the Board of Directors of the Lynchburg College gave a standing ovation to the relentless efforts of the Founder of KIIT & KISS, Dr. Achyuta Samanta, for establishing Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) as one of its kinds in the world, where 20,000 tribal (indigenous) students are provided free residential education from KG to PG. Dr. Satpathy was highly appreciated by the students' and faculty members for her thought provoking delivery & flamboyance.

Faculty’s paper features on coverpage of prestigious journal A research paper authored by Dr. Indrajit Chakraborty of the School of Applied Sciences, KIIT University had the distinction of featuring on the cover-page of the prestigious journal 'Soft Matter'. The paper titled 'Reverse thermal gelation of aromatic solvents by a series of easily accessible organic salt based gelators' appeared in the issue number ‘8 (2012), pp 2595’ of 'Soft Matter', which is a journal of international repute from the Royal Society of Chemistry, UK. It highlights the joint research results from School of Applied Sciences, KIIT University and Indian Association of Cultivation Science, Jadavpur, Kolkata. He co-authored this paper with Mr. Pathik Sahoo and Prof. Parthasarathi Dastidar. Dr. Chakraborty, Asst. Professor in Chemistry, has a number of international publications to his credit. In 2011, his book titled ‘d-Keto-Enones: Exploratory Studies on Their Photo-reactivities’ was published by Lambert Academic Publishing (Germany). Recently, he has also been invited to be a part of ‘Reviewer Panel’ of Cambridge University Press.

Dr. Udai P. Singh, Professor in School of Electronics Engineering, KIIT University has bagged a mega research project worth Rs. 1.4 crore from Department of Science and Technology(DST), Government of India under Solar Energy Research Initiative program. The research project is on “Process development of Cu(In,Ga)Se2 thin film solar cell on flexible substrate using co-evaporation technique.” The project duration is of three years.

Dr. Singh is working in the area of thin film solar cells for last 16 years. He is also working on the research projects funded by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO), Government of India.
Dr. S. M. Ali, Dy Controller, Examinations, KIIT University has been awarded the prestigious Govinda Gupta Memorial Running Shield and cash award for outstanding contribution to Research & Development works in the State of Odisha on 15th September 2010. The award was given to him by Odisha State Centre, Institution of Engineers (IEI India) on its 43rd Engineer's Day.
Dr. Mrutyunjay Suar, Director, KIIT School of Biotechnology has been nominated by the Steinem Rhein Symposium as the future young technical leader and invited to deliver a talk in September 2010. His trip is sponsored by Steinem Rhein. Dr Mrutyunjay Suar has been invited as the key speaker on the 10th annual celebration of UBS Optimus Foundation and will be speaking on "Innovation and Community Participation". His trip is sponsored by UBS Optimus.
Dr. Udai P. Singh, Professor, KIIT School of Electronics Engineering has been invited by Moserbaer, India to deliver a talk on CIGS (Copper Indium Gallium Diselenide) based thin film solar cell on 28th November, 2009. Moserbaer a giant in optical media is diversifying in Photovoltaic and interested to have a collaborative research project on thin film solar cell with Dr Singh and his group.
Dr Sucheta Priyabadini, Deputy Registrar, KIIT University has been selected to receive a 2010 Endeavour Research Fellowship of the Australian Government. The Endeavour Awards are the Australian Government's internationally competitive, merit-based scholarship program providing high-achieving individuals with a unique opportunity to undertake study, research or professional development. On successful completion of the Award, she will be inducted as a member of the Endeavour Awards Alumni Network.
Mr. Himanshu Khatua, noted Film Director and Director of KIIT School of Film and Media Sciences and Mr. Adwaita Gadnayak, eminent Sculptor and Director of KIIT School of Sculpture received ‘Ka Award’ from His Excellency the Governor of Odisha, Mr. M.C. Bhandare at a ceremony held at Rabindra Mandap in Bhubaneswar.
